Chile has many beautiful lakes scattered across the southern part of the country with many located in the lake district. This area of Chile is characterized by rolling green vistas and turquoise lakes. The lake district is not as well-known as another rich area in southern Chile, Patagonia, where visitors can also spend time in some beautiful lake areas. You can find the largest lake in Chile, General Carrera Lake, in Patagonia, and it sits on the Chilean-Argentinian border. Another great lake to spend time at is Llanquihue Lake, the second-largest lake in the country, and it presents the unforgettable scenery of Volcan Osorno, a picturesque volcano. Not far from the lake district, the town of Puerto Varas is a great place for travelers to stay while enjoying all of these beautiful lakes.
